Finance Supervisor required to oversee the organisation's accounting systems, maintaining accurate records and financial documentation and oversee the daily overall workflow of the department. Based in Rossburgh, Durban
Requirements:
  • Matric
  • Diploma/Degree in Bookkeeping/Accounting .
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years' proven work experience in supervisory role
  • Clear criminal and fraud record with no convictions.
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles
  • Ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
  • Effective verbal, written and listening communications skills
  • Time management skills
  • Computer skills including the ability to operate computerized accounting, spreadsheet, and word-processing programs at a highly proficient level
  • Team player and willing to provide additional support to the Department Manager
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting and financial software.
  • Team player and willing to provide additional support to the Department Manager
Duties and responsibilities:
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains clerical and professional accounting staff in the Finance Department.
  • Makes day to day decisions within the Finance Department in consultation with the Finance Manager.
  • Analyzes financial reports in relation to current budget and prior year information.
  • Audits expenditures, ensuring compliance with the accounting procedures of the organization.
  • Balances and reconciles accounts; adjusts and corrects daily journal entries.
  • Monitors expenditures and prepares monthly financial statements and administrative reports.
  • Provides technical support to clerical and professional staff.
  • Prepares quarterly and annual statements.
  • Supervise financial and accounting processes and ensure adherence to company/federal laws.
  • Prepare and distribute budget reports and financial statements to management in a timely fashion.
  • Manage account payables and receivable activities in a timely manner.
  • Perform account reconciliation activities on periodic basis.
  • Update general ledger on a regular basis and ensure its accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist in goals setting and performance improvements for finance staff.
  • Register all finance transactions accurately for future references.
  • Perform necessary variance and other accounting analysis to identify and resolve any discrepancies or gaps.
  • Participate in overall annual budgetary process.
  • Perform cost analysis and recommend process improvements for cost-effectiveness.
  • Manage financial reporting and management tasks.
  • Address financial issues and inquiries from internal and external customers.
  • Perform financial audit and prepare audit reports with recommendations to Finance manager.
  • Create financial presentations for management and clients.
