About us

The Finance Directorate plays a key role in the achievement of the Department's strategic objectives by delivering value through strategic alignment, financial solutions and stakeholder relationships.

The four branches in the Finance Directorate; Financial Governance and Systems, Financial Services, Budgeting and Strategy and Management Accounting, ensure:
  • adequate funding is secured to meet operational requirements;
  • financial accounting and financial management of resources is undertaken,
  • compliance with statutory, legislative and other governance requirements;
  • financial systems are optimised for utilisation and development and
  • operational services are maintained and improved for risk mitigation.

About these roles

With a service delivery mindset, the aim of these important finance positions is to innovate and improve ways of working to meet our stakeholder requirements.

Reporting to various senior finance officers, you are crucial in maintaining the delivery of effective customer focused services while promoting accountability for responsible fiscal management.

What success looks like

You will have a strong work ethic and think strategically to respond positively to change within Finance and with our internal and external stakeholders. You will be experienced in leading a team of people to manage complex functions in a financial and legislative compliant environment.

To be successful in these roles, you will need to demonstrate your:
  • Supervision and leadership ability to meet compliance obligations and promote a culture of continuous improvement; and
  • Customer centric and collaborative approach to partner with non-financial stakeholders across the business to achieve results.

Competencies outlined in the Public-Sector Leadership Capability profiles for Level 3/4 are applicable to this role i.e. shapes and manages strategy; achieves results; builds productive relationships; exemplifies personal integrity and self-awareness; communicates and influences effectively.

Pool Recruitment

This pool will be open for a period of 12 months from the day after the breach of standard claim period closes. Permanent, fixed term, and full time appointments may be offered as vacancies arise, however an appointment is not guaranteed.

The Department of Justice uses recruitment pools to build a bank of talent for future opportunities. Applicants found suitable in this pool, may be considered for subsequent, similar vacancies at similar locations, with the Department of Justice for the duration of the pool.
