Monday to Thursday 08:30 to 17:00, Friday 08:30 to 16:30

Assistant Accountant required for a successful food manufacturing company. This is a great opportunity to join a company who work with leading food and retail brands with an ongoing commitment to new product development.

Experience in an accounting role would be desirable for this position however no formal qualifications are required. You will need to be confident using Microsoft Office and demonstrate strong organisational skills. Sage experience would be advantageous.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Finance Manager and Finance Director in providing a financial support service to the company and ensure all legal regulatory requirements are met.

The Assistant Accountant Role:

• Accruals and prepayments – creating journals, allocation, and reconciliation

• Review P&L for coding errors, anomalies etc.

• Record transport and parcel costs

• Oversee utility payments – submitting gas meter readings

• Review agency staff costs

• Sage maintenance including the setup of GL codes, Period End close, VAT analysis, sales regions

• Coding and verifying invoices

• Maintain fixed asset register

• Processing BACS payment for purchase ledger

• Account analysis for query resolution, annual audit, budgeting etc.

The Successful Assistant Accountant Candidate:

• Experience in accounting role desirable but not essential

• Confident using Microsoft Office
