A Head of Finance role offering between £50,000 to £55,000 with a health research and support charity.

Your new company

You will be joining an inspiring charity whose mission is to help support research to improve the health of people affected by one of the most prevalent conditions.

Your new role

As a Head of Finance you will be responsible for providing effective and collaborative financial support and leadership. Reporting to Finance Director you will lead a small finance team, coordinate the annual budget setting process, ensure statutory compliance of finance activities and lead on the annual account and audit process. In addition to routine technical responsibilities, you will add significant value to the charity by bringing your expertise, communication and problem-solving skills to a range of challenges.


What you'll need to succeed

This is a critical and exciting role for the right person, with scope to play a key role in supporting Senior Management to drive the organization forward. You will have excellent accounting, analytical and communication skills, allied with a pragmatic and solution focused approach.

Some of the tasks

  • To co-ordinate the budget-setting process, collating budgets and monitoring financial outcomes to help staff achieve departmental and organisational objectives within operational plans
  • To ensure that financial controls are effective and financial operations are compliant with statutory requirements including the Charity SORP
  • Oversee the distribution and review of management accounts, investigation of variances against budget and reforecasts
  • Develop and maintain robust financial systems and internal controls.
  • Ensure preparation for and oversee the audit process


They are looking for a candidate who will be able to demonstrate:

  • Qualified accountant (might consider part-qualified with significant experience)
  • Strong technical accounting skills
  • Some experience of charitable sector (knowledge of Charity SORP)
  • Some experience of Business Partnering
  • Demonstrable advanced Microsoft Excel
  • Good all-round communications and demonstrable interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead teams and projects
  • Ability to organise time, prioritise and meet deadlines
