Purpose

Job Summary
Principal responsibilities are described below:
- Responsible for assisting in the preparation of the monthly regional reporting and supporting in the preparation of the quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements. This will include responsibility for the group consolidation journals, reviewing consolidation summaries and preparing the necessary footnotes to support the group financial statements.
- Responsible for carrying out initiatives identified by the Group Financial Reporting Manager, which includes identifying, communicating, and undertaking the implementation process for key initiatives.
- Responsible for providing research, documentation and technical support to the group finance team, which primarily relates to IFRS technical issues.
- Stay informed as to new accounting issues that will likely impact the future results of the business.
- Liaising with key members of the group-wide accounting team and other functional department personnel to help identify and/or resolve issues and initiatives
- Supporting the design, implementation, and monitoring of internal controls. Will assist in developing and/or identifying new controls required for financial control to improve the overall control environment. Operation of certain controls as required.
- Be a key contributor in the external audit process. Person will be given aspects of the year-end audit to manage directly, for example footnotes, cash flow statement etc.
- Certain review and cover responsibilities for backoffice function to support both recurring tasks and larger projects
- Person will be a key part of the group finance team, which includes maintaining team morale, developing the professional careers of staff, ensuring that the work-life balance philosophy within the group is maintained, etc.
- Given available time coupled with the person’s desire to develop and participate in other key initiatives across the group, the individual will be given opportunity to learn and/or be directly responsible for other key aspects within the group and regional function (e.g. trading activities, development projects, corporate governance etc).

Education
- Chartered accountant – up to 2 years qualified
Skills/Experience
- Recently qualified accountant
- Must have experience with IFRS and FRS 101 financial statements
- Experience of writing technical accounting papers and/or researching technical accounting issues is preferable
- Familiar with group and standalone financial statements
- Knowledge and experience of internal controls across standard business cycles
- Industry related experience preferred but not essential.
