A senior opportunity to join the OPM Finance Department has arisen. We are recruiting a Group Financial Accountant to complement our team, leading on the preparation of group consolidated monthly and statutory accounts. The successful candidate will also support accounting functions within the local offices and to ensure that OPM’s ledgers accurately reflect the company’s financial activity, in line with the business specific guidelines in financial control across the group, appropriate accounting standards and provide for accurate assessment of financial performance. The role-holder will also ensure that local audits are managed effectively and that statutory accounts are accurate and delivered on time.

Key

responsibilities:

  • Prepare group consolidated statutory accounts including all notes in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all ledgers and accounting activities are completed accurately, to the relevant standards.
  • Review the ledgers within SUN of the local offices and ensure that these are promptly updated and accurate.
  • Liaise with tax authorities and manage all tax issues and queries as well as UK VAT returns
  • Manage Intercompany process and reconciliations
  • Lead audit process
  • Day to day line management of Corporate Finance team.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Deliver monthly group consolidated accounts to statutory standards on time for inclusion in FD’s monthly board pack.
  • Provide standard reporting framework for international offices financial reporting.
  • Set the timetable and requirements for month end and year end management accounts to ensure that required deadlines and standards are met.
  • Ensure that all monthly transactions are entered and accurately and reflect the company’s position in line with accounting standards and accepted practice.
  • Manage the consolidation process and consolidation entries.
  • Ensure that OPM’s balance sheets are comprehensive and accurately reflect the company’s financial position. This includes ensuring that all balance accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis with supporting schedules.
  • Ensure that all appropriate local and international office statutory accounts and tax submissions are calculated correctly and submitted on a timely basis.
  • Oversee UK VAT requirements and general taxation queries, provide guidance to bid teams as appropriate.
  • Lead audit process by liaising with company external auditors requirements for the Group and UK subsidiary including preparation of statutory accounts.
  • Manage the intercompany processes including cash advances from UK to international offices.
  • Ensure the groups compliance with transfer pricing policy.
  • Understand and manage the foreign exchange exposure charged and to ensure that the appropriate provision for such exposure is appropriately provided for.

Essential Skills/Qualifications/Experience
  • Fully qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with significant post qualification experience
  • Group consolidated statutory accounts preparation and audit experience.
  • Proven corporate management accounting experience.
  • Experience in an international environment with multiple currencies
  • Experience of people management and developing a team.
  • Proven experience and skill in building productive relationships internally particularly at remote office locations.
  • Experience of supporting overseas offices - the ability to understand their needs and to guide and advise accordingly.
  • Excellent numeracy and IT skills (especially Excel) and very good attention to detail.
  • Experience of MS Dynamics an advantage.
