Reporting to the CDO Ops Chief Auditor (CA), based in the UK, this role is a member of the Group Audit (GA) global CDO Ops Principal Audit Manager (PAM) team. The PAM portfolio for this Cross Divisions Operations role includes Loans operations, Reconciliations, Asset Services, Audit Confirmations (globally). In addition, responsibilities include line management for the CDO Ops India based audit team
The CDO function is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) team within Group Audit. As such the role requires close liaison and co-ordination with Chief Auditors, Principal Audit Managers and staff from other audit teams to facilitate effective coverage of key processing risks across the GA audit universe and to ensure the timely and high quality delivery of the audit plan.
Finally, the individual will be expected to pro-actively propose and contribute to initiatives supporting the continuing development of the CDO Operations audit team, as well as Group Audit overall.

Your key responsibilities
We are seeking an individual with strong skills in the Operations audit arena, and a proven track record in end to end audit delivery. The individual will need to demonstrate that they are self-motivated and innovative, have strong communication skills, a delivery focus and be able to work effectively under pressure. The candidate will be expected to
- Develop and deliver a risk based coverage approach and audit strategy for the PAM portfolio, providing a clear and transparent "end to end" process risk view. This includes conducting annual planning and quarterly plan review, insightful risk assessment in line with methodology and risk owner guidance and the design and implementation of a robust Continuous Monitoring strategy to capture changes in the risk profile, including new and emerging risks.
- Own and develop senior stakeholder relationships, fostering strong partnership with both the first and second lines of defence.
- Be the GA subject matter expert for their area of coverage responsibility, developing a robust understanding of all aspects of associated processes within the Operations landscape, including interfaces with other divisions.
- Manage a large team of auditors in a matrix structure, demonstrating a strong focus on staff development, including creating an inclusive and empowered working environment for the team.
- Provide forward looking and inspirational team leadership. This is to enrich the skillsets of both individuals and the team overall, helping to create a team with a cutting-edge capability. This includes succession and staff career planning and creating an environment that attracts and retains talent.
- Support control and management reporting requirements of Group Audit and its stakeholders
- Proactively communicate actual and emerging risks both within the CDO team, but also GA Regional Management and other GA teams where relevant. The candidate should be able to recognise and express risk in the global, regional, country and divisional context.
- Proactively support the CA in the ongoing development of the CDO function, aiming to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the team, harness innovation and to constantly improve the quality and value of the teams audit delivery to the Bank.
- Some international travel may be required (subject to Bank and government restrictions and requirements).
Your skills and experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in financial services or 'big 4' accounting firm, including in an audit delivery role. This should include an advanced understanding of risk and control concepts and the three lines of defense model
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of the risks and regulatory requirements across the in-scope portfolio.
- A proven track record of delivery and the ability to balance multiple high-profile deliverables in a fast-paced business environment under pressure.
- A highly effective written and oral communicator, comfortable interacting and managing expectations of stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience prioritising a dynamic book of work.
- Strong thought leadership and the ability to contribute innovative and creative ideas to deliver insightful audit outcomes and to positively impact the broader department.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to identify and evaluate risks within the control environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing. Able to communicate and report with clarity and in a logical order and structured approach. The candidate will be fluent in English (written and verbal). Additional languages are advantageous.
- Extensive knowledge of auditing CB and IB operations, especially in the offshoring area
- Have extensive knowledge of auditing operations processes (e.g. client on-boarding, trade capture, reconciliations, settlements, payments, collateral management, corporate actions, regulatory reporting) and the controls within the various control functions
- Relevant qualification preferred, such as Chartered Accountant, ACA, CPA or equivalent
