In-House Lawyer (Risk & Conduct)

Our client is a leading Magic Circle law firm with a truly global reach. Their global inhouse legal team is based in Northern Ireland and has been growing steadily over the last ten years providing a comprehensive and high quality in-house legal function to this global business.

The team is led by very impressive and highly experienced lawyers who have trained and worked in silver/magic circle law firms prior to joining this team and have a wealth of really good experience and knowledge to pass down.

Due to the recent growth and expected future growth of the team there is a breadth of career opportunities for the in-house lawyers. Our client is very proactive about investing heavily in people’s professional development and the lawyers who work as part of this team get exposure to really interesting inhouse work and have long term rewarding careers in a leading global company.

The Role

Our client is keen to further grow the team and hire two new lawyers to work in their risk and conduct team. The regulation & conduct team is part of the companies wider risk function and is comprised of the data privacy team, the business acceptance unit and risk operations (includes client audit and inhouse legal). The team is responsible for championing and sustaining a firm-wide culture of legal, regulatory and ethical compliance.

As an in-house lawyer in this team you will be responsible for acting as a trusted advisor to the business, providing high quality, proactive and business-focused support and solutions to clients on a variety of regulatory, compliance and professional conduct issues. You will also be required to develop very strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels including the board and sub-committee.

The Person

Suitable candidates will meet the criteria outlined below;
  • Qualified Solicitor – Ideally 2 + years PQE
  • Previous experience of risk management and compliance in a professional services environment
  • Strong knowledge of legal and regulatory frameworks and their application within a business
  • Strong research and presentation skills
  • Clear communicator with the ability to influence and act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders
  • Collaborative team player
