Because of its recent growth, the company seeks to bolster its Finance team by adding an experienced Director of Accounting who can both manage a talented team and roll up her/his sleeves to get things done. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director of Accounting will be responsible for all aspects of accounting systems and reporting framework and provide key leadership in corporate and operational accounting functions, including financial reporting, compliance, accounting and operational controls and process improvement; cost accounting; business integration; audit and taxes. The Director of Accounting will be taking a hands-on leadership role across the Company. The client seeks an experienced and forward-thinking professional with operational experience and a proven track record of creative problem solving and change management. The position is based in the company’s south Jersey, suburban Philadelphia headquarters.
Leading and mentoring a team of accountants responsible for all aspects of accounting month end close, financial reporting, cost accounting, regulatory compliance and taxation. Leading the preparation and analysis of financial reports in compliance with US GAAP / IFRS Driving operational improvement and automation efforts to streamline revenue operations, reporting excellence and improve the quality of monthly, quarterly, and annual closes. Providing thought leadership, guidance, and strategy on technical accounting matters impacting the business. Serving as a change agent for implementing new accounting standards, internal controls, and process improvements in an increasingly complex environment. Providing accounting expertise on M&A transactions from pre-acquisition due diligence through post-acquisition integration; leading the integration as needed. Acquiring a detailed understanding of key financial results and discussing findings with key business partners. Fostering a high performing finance team through empowerment and collaboration with other business units. Acting as a key participant in the design of reporting dimensions, cost categories, and other reporting units. Leading future ERP implementation as needed. Participating in the development of annual Budget and Operating Plan. Liaising with external auditors to support the quarterly review and annual audit process.
Qualifications and Education
Combined experience of 10-12 years with a mix of public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and private industry Bachelors or Masters degree in Accounting CPA required 7+ years of supervisory experience with a proven ability to recruit, manage, train, and coach staff Visible progression of roles in one company Manufacturing industry experience preferred Solid understanding of inventory accounting and cost accounting concepts required Experience with multinational corporations Experience in consolidations required Track record of meeting tight working deadlines, and prioritizing workload are essential Strong technical accounting and financial reporting skills; well-grounded in GAAP Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and ability to work with a large volume of data Direct, relevant experience with working in mid- to large-scale ERP systems, including successfully enhancing and streamlining processes (D365 a plus), from order to cash Proven organizational skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively, manage multiple projects, and prioritize workload to meet deadlines Excellent communication skills, including the ability to interact with all organization levels and team members in multiple locations and time zones Desire and ability to work in a fast-paced environment, in an ambiguous and developing structure Ability to comfortably interact with senior management in a professional manner Self-drive is a critical path to success
