About the Company and Opportunity:
  • Our repeat client is a non profit located in the heart of DC! Their mission is to help single, homeless women get back on their feet and off the street!
  • Due to a recent leave, they are hiring a Senior Accountant to join their team on a contract to hire basis.
  • Company offers free parking to its employees when on site
  • Schedule: Typically 9-5 M-F. Position is hybrid!
    • Candidates must be flexible to go into the office in DC 2-3 times per week. Candidates MUST be local.
  • Reports directly to the Controller

Job Duties:
  • Make daily deposits to bank account and coordinate with Development Department to ensure proper coding of contributions
  • Post deposits and Pledge payments
  • Assist with monthly revenue and receivables reconciliation
  • Serve as back-up for the payroll and AP functions when needed
  • Ensure that bank/petty cash/investment/trust reconciliations are completed on a monthly basis
  • Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis
  • Ensure medical records for clients include all information required for Medicaid reimbursement
  • Verify correct Medicaid coding to ensure prompt payment
  • Input correct billing information and transmit electronically to the Medicaid carrier
  • Consult with claim clerks in the Medicaid office about disputed claims and follow up on all outstanding bills
  • Review remittance advice forms to determine adjustments made to bills as submitted and consult with the Medicaid office
  • Authorize or adjust medical bills to correct errors
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports of Medicaid billing
  • Prepare grant bills for all government grants on a monthly basis
  • Act as liaison with granting organizations and related personnel
  • Manage grant expenditures and payroll allocations to ensure maximum reimbursements per the grant terms and conditions
  • Input grant billing and related information into QuickBooks
  • Perform month-end reconciliations of certain General Ledger Accounts
  • Assist with providing information to external auditors for the annual audit
  • Assist with the provision of financial information to D.C. government entities, investors, and lenders
Qualifications for the Senior Accountant:
  • Bachelors in Accounting, Finance, or related with 2 years' of accounting experience OR Masters in Accounting or related field
  • Experience using QuickBooks highly preferred
  • Experience with Medicaid Billing required
  • Proficient Excel skills required
  • Non profit experience highly preferred
  • COVID 19 vaccination and booster required
