The Commercial Payments Credit & Risk Summer Intern will be responsible for assisting with credit reviews and ensuring credit quality for the Bank's Commercial Credit Card and Merchant BankCard portfolios. Performing credit reviews on existing customers is a major component to the job in addition to identifying problem accounts from weekly/monthly/quarterly reports and taking appropriate actions. The position requires the reviewing and analyzing of predictive commercial scores, company financial statements, credit bureaus, and other external reports necessary for due-diligence on commercial customers. Position will also assist with the underwriting of new accounts as needed. Requires working with Bank Officers and/or applicants to obtain necessary information and ensuring compliance and adherence to bank regulations.

Essential Functions
- Company financial statement and audit analysis to recommend lending decisions
- The Intern will independently prepare & present at least one Commercial Card account (CAS loan packet) with a credit line greater than $1MM+ to the Commercial Card Loan Committee and be able to successfully answer questions from Senior Management and successfully defend their initial recommendation on the credit being reviewed
- Performing research using data analytics from their day-to-day work in order to gauge the effectiveness of various commercial scores (D&B, Equifax, etc.), which are predictive versus using traditional company financial statements while assessing risk on credit reviews
- Perform other duties as assigned
Work Schedule
- Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
- Flexible - the position is typically on site 2-3 days per week
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
- Accounting and finance background
- Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Inquisitive, agile and strong team player with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values
- Basic/Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Education & Experience
- Looking for an individual who would have currently completed their Junior year at a 4-year college as a Business Major with an emphasis in Finance, Accounting or Economics. Graduate level students working on their MBA would also be given consideration.
