Introduction

To assist in creating a defined framework for the Investment Team to efficiently and effectively manage their portfolios

Key performance areas
  • Provide support in creating a defined framework for the Investment Team to efficiently and effectively manage AF Investments portfolios
  • Assist in ensuring a dashboard/tool is created and updated for the portfolio managers
  • Create monthly portfolio review reports for the main portfolios and arrange monthly meetings to discuss internally
  • Monitor that the decision making process is followed by the portfolio managers and flag any inconsistencies with the process
  • Assist in the smooth management of the IC process - agenda, coordinating the pack
  • Assisting in updating the value add calculations - measure of the value added by making the right calls on asset managers (MRT) and by making portfolio changes (PMT)
  • Support the communication process between the Investment Team and Client Channels area
  • Assist with coordinating queries
  • Assist with creating slides for presentations
  • Assist with tender docs
  • Assist with analysis
  • Assist with ad-hoc tasks
  • Help with the testing of the process
  • Help edit any formal written client communication from the Investment Team (bulletins, notes, white papers etc)
  • Stay informed of fee implication of portfolio changes and take this up with Process & Analytics team members or Portfolio Managers if necessary
  • Understand regulatory environment and the impact of regulatory changes on portfolios. Ensure that portfolio changes are within the bound of regulation
  • Stay informed of developments in the market

Minimum requirements

Requirements

Education and Experience
  • BSc, BCom or investment management are recommended. MSOffice suite (Excel skills, Word and Power point for presentations), 3 - 5 years in Investment Management

Knowledge and skills
  • Foundation in finance theory and engagement with financial markets is required - knowledge of quantitative/risk factors is a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills is required
  • Reading, writing, critical thinking, inquisitiveness, humility and honesty.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Must be very detail-oriented, with an ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities
  • Commercial acumen

  • Possess an understanding of capital markets and have investment experience with respect to multiple asset classes
