As part of our business plan APEM Ltd are significantly expanding our Terrestrial Ecology Division, as we grow, so does our Ecology team, and with this we are looking for a Principal Terrestrial Ecologist to help us deliver innovative ecological work in the East of England.

You will take the lead for all terrestrial work in the East and help to develop and grow client relationships and your team. With the autonomy and ability to put your stamp on our work in this area it is an unique time to embark on this journey with us. Your voice and ambitions will influence the direction of travel.

About the role

Your work will help full range of clients, from utilities companies, infrastructure, built development as well as regulator support. APEM also has a long history of scientific projects and developments that have keep us at the forefront of research development in many areas.

Project work will include leading on projects for infrastructure development, such as utilities, greenways, housing and on shore wind farms, as well as more specific work on terrestrial species such as otters, bats, badgers, overwintering, breeding and nesting birds and other protected species.

About you

You will be an experienced professional, holding a number of years of experience within a similar role (or ready to step up to the next level). You will be well versed in relevant UK and European policy and regulatory frameworks and be able to demonstrate the application of these within a real-world environment. Additionally, you must have knowledge and experience of the EcIA, EIA and HRA processes as well as protected species licensing; experience of botanical habitat and survey would also be preferable. Ideally, you will be a full member of CIEEM membership (or be in a position to apply) and willing to work towards chartership.
