Macildowie Finance are working on an exclusive with a leading Leicestershie based business to recruit an Assistant Accountant. This is an outstanding opportunity to apply for!

The role will form part of the finance team to provide valuable and flexible support in a fast paced, dynamic environment. The successful candidate will be provided with ample opportunity to progress and a great place to work and progress their career.

The successful candidate will have had experience of:

Accountabilities/Responsibilities
  • Maintain all 6 cashbooks, ensuring that all items are posted and that the bank accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis. Ensure that there is enough money in all 3 current accounts to meet outgoings.
  • Post month-end journals to enable month-end closure in 3 working days. Review accounts for variances against budget and investigate to ensure items have been posted correctly and correct by journal if necessary.
  • Input part details, bills of materials and routings onto JDE of new and modified products.
  • Be responsible for the production of post costing information concerning the activity in the production area. Analyse and improve reports where necessary.
  • Process payroll for the fortnightly paid staff.
  • VAT Returns
  • Monthly statutory declarations re exports etc.
  • Ad hoc projects.

  • Support to the finance director and ability to cover absence
  • Ensuring that systems are in place to maintain consistent and accurate accounts and reports.

  • Skills and Competence:
  • Proven finance background within a manufacturing organisation, qualified to AAT or part qualified ACCA / CIMA as a minimum.
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • High level of numeracy, accuracy and significant attention to detail.
  • A good understanding of double entry bookkeeping and relevant accounting standards.
  • Ability to work without supervision but also to be part of a team.
  • Ability to think around a problem to achieve the best solution.

  • Conforming to policy and procedures: Ability to adhere to standard accounting practices and methods of working.
  • Numerate: Ability to work with figures and see patterns in data. Then to be able to present data in a clear form to those who may not have such an understanding.
  • Organised: Able to keep written records of communication for audit purposes.
  • Flexible: Able to adapt to a variety of tasks and prioritise workload.
  • Reliable and timely: Able to work to deadlines.
