Are you currently working as an Assistant Accountant / Accounts Assistant?

We are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated Accountant to join a leading UK property development company.

Whilst currently centred around Manchester, the group is expanding throughout the UK, and it is anticipated that this role will rapidly take on more responsibility, as the team grows to meet the needs of the business.

You will be responsible for ensuring that client money records, payments and receipts are kept up to date and treated appropriately according to Company policy, contractual information and regulatory guidelines.

The responsibilities of the ideal Assistant Accountant / Accounts Assistant:

* Conduct daily cash and bank reconciliations and maintain appropriate cash ledger records.
* Support with the preparation of monthly landlord and tenant statements by property.
* Keep an audit trail for monies received and paid, in accordance with company policy and guidance.
* Liaise with property managers, facilities management, and investor relations to help reconcile bank statements and ensure deductions are correctly applied and other changes to status for tenants or landlords are properly reflected.
* Support with Banking covenant reporting and projections for properties where relevant.
* Support with daily bank balance allocations and client account money transfers on a daily basis.
* Liaise with Facilities and Block Management to apply correct deductions for on-demand charges.
* Support with the clear down of any legacy cases and with maintaining data integrity across key operating systems.
* Track deposits and refunds, using customer Masterfile data and against source contract records.
* Prepare relevant material for annual declarations to comply with client monies protection scheme submissions and for quarterly non-resident landlord tax submissions to HMRC.
* Carry out wider Finance team tasks and continuous improvement initiatives, including year end accounts preparation, system upgrades and functionality leveraging.

You will have:

* Requisite experience in a Finance department, with particular emphasis on performing bank and cash book management and reconciliation duties.
* AAT qualified or looking to take a financial qualification to become more literate with accounting principles and mechanisms.
* Comfortable working with large data sets and manipulating and re-formatting data.
* Property sector experience desirable but not essential.
* Meticulous attention to detail to interrogate, problem solve and identify trends.
* A flexible and practical approach to work, with ability to prioritise effectively.
* Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and cross functionally.
* Good interpersonal and influencing skills
* A willingness to learn and to drive continuous improvement

What's in it for you?
