What are we looking for?

We have an exciting opportunity for a determined, tenacious, detail oriented Financial Controller to join our team in Southampton. The role will be varied, covering all aspects of operational finance at INDO working as part of the senior leadership team, with responsibility for the Assistant Accountant and reporting directly to the Managing Director.

What will you be doing?
  • Oversee all aspects of Operational Finance
  • Direct line management of Assistant Accountant
  • Prepare monthly Management Accounts and quarterly Finance Board Reports
  • Budgeting, forecasting and reporting processes across the business
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns and other routine HMRC submissions
  • Maintain and manage Bank relationships and provide monthly Debtor and Creditor reconciliations
  • All aspects of Bank management including Payroll, UK and overseas payment runs, authorising payments and review of bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare and maintain Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly Stock reconciliation, highlighting dormant and slow moving stock, along with maintaining progress of perpetual stock counts
  • Prepare UK statutory accounts with the support of the Company Accountant
  • Prepare annual R&D Tax Credit calculation
  • Identify opportunities and provide critical information to the departmental leads for making operational and strategic decisions
  • Review actual operating results compared to budget and forecast (including sales, inventory, rebates/discounts, expenses etc)
  • Review and approval of special discounts, rebates and frameworks for customer accounts and tenders
  • Analysing market trends and sales performance for purposes of identifying business expansion opportunities
  • Identify and coordinate business grant initiatives to maximise growth potential


You will have
  • A CCAB qualification or Finalist
  • 2-3 years' demonstrated experience and working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Understanding of bespoke software packages
  • A high level of proficiency in Microsoft office suite / Google Workspace
  • Advanced ability in Excel
  • High levels of self-motivation, drive, resilience and ambition
