- Degree educated or equivalent experience with a solid track record of working in energy with a high degree of commercial acumen is required.

- An exceptional mix of commercial and leadership skills able to Lead by example with focus on ethics communication attitude and time management prioritising and ensuring completion of numerous tasks across the team.

- Substantial experience and success driving and managing change in a complex organisation.

- Hold an excellent understanding of key commercial concepts including insight value management customer experience and financial performance management In addition hold the ability to interpret contractual documentation assessing wider implications and practical applications of scenarios.

- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft applications with experience of owning complex financial models.

The Commercial Manager plays a pivotal role in Distributed Energy (DE) by driving our ambition to become a market-leading DE business through best practices.

As the Commercial Manager you will be responsible for driving the commercial processes and controls to allow Distributed Energy to continue to deliver commercially successful projects. Your focus will primarily be to deliver the Commercial elements for 18 live Heat Network assets, but you will be influential in supporting ambitious growth plans expected for the sector, constantly driving good commercial process and performance.

Description

- Managing the Statement of Profit and Loss, having control over both direct and indirect elements in the business, reporting monthly to the Heat Management Team.

- Own all ad-hoc financial arrangements working to formalise, reduce risk and ensure accurate revenue is collected (e.g. shared utility supplies - £0.5m/year, water supplies, ad-hoc manual billing - +£2m/year).

- Own the customer tariffs and timely annual renewal process, ensuring alignment with industry bodies, contractual obligations, and supply agreements.

- Own the procurement of utilities (+£20m/year) ensuring risk is managed with an effective hedging strategy - consistently striving to achieve savings. Ensure ongoing billing is accurate (including VAT and levies).

- Determine, challenge and own commercial assumptions and controls in new bids and ensure consistency of assumptions in internal and external models.
