Control Techniques is part of the Industrial Automation business within the Nidec Group. We are a leading global provider of AC & DC drives for electric motors, used by our customers worldwide in commercial and industrial applications (e.g. Lifts, Robots, Rollercoaster rides).

Purpose of Role:

This position supports the Operations Financial Planning & Analysis Manger with the financial performance forecast and improvement of the cost base of the European Operations based in Newtown, UK and Oradea, Romania. The role holder is also responsible for maintaining and improving the Cost Accounting System to enable detailed understanding of current and future product and manufacturing process costs. Working collaboratively with the Operations and Project teams to analyse and advise on costs of raw materials, manufacturing process, product design decisions and cost improvement/capital projects.

Key Job


  • Working with the Operations Financial Accounting and Planning team to understand and explain Manufacturing performance.
  • Maintain and improve the system for recording standard and actual manufacturing costs by products and process in the UK manufacturing location.
  • Produce data and analysis to identify continuous improvement and cost reduction opportunities in a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Provide financial modelling to track and manage project costs, offer financial guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle highlighting and financial impact of decisions on project and product cost.
  • Create and assist in financial evaluation of Capital investments projects and review of investment request before release to the required investment approvers.

Required Qualifications and Experience:
  • Degree level in Business, Finance or Engineering
  • Professional Qualifications (CIMA/ACCA) essential


  • Skilled in financial modelling and analysis of large data sets
  • Organised with efficient planning of workload
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Cost accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
