Interim Head of Group Reporting - £700-850 p/d
A FTSE 100 Retail business are currently recruiting for an Interim Head of Group Reporting. This role provides key support to the Group Finance Director and CFO acting as a primary contact for the business unit finance teams on all accounting, technical, and reporting matters. The role is also heavily involved in the Group audit process as well as a variety of Group-wide projects and therefore will have significant external focus with various external advisors.

This role will be pivotal to ensure the set-up of strong group reporting processes, gate-keeper to Group accounting policies, alongside improving the group consolidation process for both statutory audit and filing requirements and monthly management purposes to satisfy the shareholder and internal reporting requirements.

Key Deliverables:
  • Own and oversee the financial reporting requirements for the Group ensuring the provision of clear and accurate information and a 'one version of the truth' approach.
  • Responsibility for certain key Group level accounting items and judgements (e.g., impairment reviews, adjusting items, segmental information, share schemes, pensions)
  • Ensure close collaboration and build strong relationships with the Group CFO and FD and with the CFOs/FD's and financial reporting teams within the operating companies.
  • Key stakeholder and lead group finance representative on project teams (recent projects include an IPO, refinancing of Group debt facilities, implementation of new accounting standards, corporate structure simplification and ERP and EPM implementation)
  • Provision of technical accounting advice to support investments and new business initiatives
  • Ensure key parent company statutory reporting needs (e.g. month, quarter, year-end reporting processes) are satisfied via the provision of timely financial reporting up to the Group liaising with the relevant teams in the process.
  • Assist in developing best practice procedures and improvements for both internal and external financial reporting processes, with a focus on automation and data analytics
  • Assist with preparation of Audit Committee papers on complex and judgemental finance matters
  • Key point of contact with external auditors
  • Support on production and analysis of Group cash flow and balance sheet including key movements and variances, challenging op co's where necessary.
  • Management of the annual audit process in collaboration with the FD, leading co-ordination of audit work for the Corporate entities and across the group and being a day-to-day lead and key contact with group external auditors.
  • Supporting the Annual Report and Interim process, in particular, production of the back end.
  • Delivering and filing of annual statutory accounts for the UK and subsidiary companies as required.
  • Own the reporting for the corporate office entities monthly, presenting to CFO / FD on the cost position.
  • Own the covenant reporting and debt financing agreement compliance
  • Working with the IR Director when preparing external releases.
  • Line management responsibility of one Group Accountant, with day-to-day coaching and leadership role within the Group Reporting team
The candidate will need to be
  • Qualified ACA (or equivalent)
  • Immediately available or short notice (2 weeks or less)
  • Technical in nature (e.g. Background as auditor or another technical financial services specialism). Big-4 not a pre-requisite.
  • Strong experience in a group financial reporting / group consolidation / group financial control environment for a large, complex, multi-currency international businesses
  • Structured, critical thinker who can work independently and self-sufficiently
  • Hardworking, diligent and strong attention to detail
  • Culture fit is very important - flexibility, fantastic communication skills, ability to operate well in an ambiguous environment and huge amounts of drive are a must
