The core services include the integration of complex systems, including medical equipment, into a range of infostructure and vehicles. This equipment is used to support armed forces in some of the toughest environments across the globe. As a Senior Finance Business Partner, your role will be pivotal in ensuring this extraordinary effort has the finance support needed. Your approach will be curious and collaborative and you will work with a group of inspirational stakeholders who will value your support in ensuring we deliver to our customers and meet our purpose, to build Extraordinary futures.

This role is initially a 12 Month FTC that could become permanent.

The responsibilities in this role include:
  • The role will be responsible for finance business partnering including project accounting on long term projects. You will be responsible for working in partnership with a number of business areas in a financial capacity to provide them with real time support.
  • You will be working with senior stakeholders at a director level and must therefore be able to build professional relationships with key decision makers and support the board at a strategic level.
  • You will be responsible for working with the budget holders in the business area to create accurate, timely and well understood annual budgets and quarterly reforecasts. You will have joint accountability with the budget holder for the accuracy of these forecasts. It will be key that you can understand and articulate the operational opportunities, risks and sensitivities associated with the financial forecasts in a way that ensures the budget holder is fully briefed and understands the levers of control they can exercise to manage these. You must be able to effectively challenge and influence senior stakeholders to ensure forecasts are materially accurate and there is a measurable uplift in performance in that business area.
  • You will also be responsible for monthly reporting where you will independently conduct monthly review meetings with budget holders to ensure they understand any material variances against budget and are in a position to brief their peers on the board and create and implement effective plans to manage any operational matters creating a deterioration in the financial result.
  • You will need to be able to analyse data and communicate this in verbal, written and visual ways to ensure it is thoroughly understood by non-financial stakeholders. This information must be accurate and based on sound assumptions to ensure that appropriate decisions are being made. You will need to have a flexible style to ensure you can appropriately inform and influence key decision makers with differing styles.
  • You must be comfortable challenging current ways of working, in finance and the operational areas, to consistently drive efficiency and cost savings. You should also be able to create metrics and KPIs that enable the business areas to manage and monitor their performance. The business uses IFS for budgeting, forecasting and management reporting and you would be responsible for ensuring we use this to streamline processes and create efficiencies where these are possible.
  • You will need to work closely with a team of other business partners to drive the strategic agenda and focus on the businesses key priorities. You must therefore be a team player and be able to prioritise strategic and tactical tasks that you have joint and individual responsibility for. You will have oversight of other employees responsibilities and will need to be able to balance their needs with your own, proactively providing development opportunities to other members of the team.
