The role
Do you have a passion for pricing and want to be involved in a major Pricing transformation project at IAG? We're well on the way to deliver our vision, which is to have the best Pricing capability in the world.

To deliver on this vision, our Pricing team is expanding, and we are recruiting for multiple roles across the senior and specialsit levels to join us to work on a major Pricing transformation project at IAG. It involves leading the integration of actuarial pricing models into the Earnix rating engine and building the end-to-end pricing process including algorithms, risk cost models, go to market Pricing, monitoring and feedback loops.

You will join a large and diverse team of pricing professionals and will enjoy the challenge of working on a ground-breaking, innovative project with a high level of exposure across the organisation. There will be ample opportunities to design and deliver creative solutions to challenging problems whilst learning from the best, in a very supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Designing and building an end-to-end pricing process in Earnix (market leading Pricing software) that is best in class for all products across IAG
  • Building and deploying ground up actuarial risk pricing and demand models using GBMs and GAMs
  • Designing pricing algorithms in accordance with our Pricing Principles, feeding directly from actuarial pricing models
  • Working with a range of stakeholders across the business including product teams, portfolio teams, data and technology teams to inform the best design of the pricing algorithm and recommend go-to-market pricing strategies
  • Performing rate setting analysis to determine commercial rates to deploy to market
  • Implementing algorithm simplification and improvements across IAG
  • Assisting with the design and build of monitoring reports
  • Thought leadership around the design of Earnix pricing algorithms to support IAG's long-term pricing strategy
  • Representing the Pricing team in cross-functional meetings
  • Mentor and oversee a team of high performing pricing analysts and senior analysts, delivering value to IAG through pricing capability and risk management


Skills and experience

Here are some of the desirable skills and qualifications to be successful in our team:

  • Proven ability to display multi-dimensional thinking when solving problems
  • Insurance or analytics industry experience, preferably in general insurance pricing or actuarial roles (not needed for entry level roles)
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications including Excel
  • Experience with R, SAS, SQL, Python or equivalent
  • Tertiary qualifications in a numerical or analytical discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial or Computer Science
  • 3+ years of general insurance pricing experience
  • Ability to present technical information to a broad audience
  • Experience working in a project/agile operating environment
  • Experience with pricing techniques and models such as GBMs and GAMs
  • Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines and have exceptional flexibility of approach
  • Qualified Actuary or 1-2 exams away from qualification
