Job Responsibilities: The Senior Accountant will report to the Controller and will be responsible for supporting the Company's general ledger close process for areas such as cash, investments, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accruals, intercompany transactions and other general accounting responsibilities. A Successful Senior Accountant will be a strong team player who is detail oriented and can pivot when needed. The candidate will be expected to apply the Company's accounting policies to ensure an accurate, high quality and efficient monthly and quarterly financial close in order to meet the Company's external SEC reporting/filing timelines, while also ensuring compliance with the related SOX controls and US GAAP.
  • Support all aspects of the monthly close process including the preparation of journal entries
  • Performs general ledger reconciliations, reconciliation of all Balance Sheet accounts including intercompany accounts.
  • Analyze expenses and accruals to ensure transactions are recorded appropriately
  • Manage fixed assets and calculated depreciation
  • Work collaboratively with FP&A and other functions to obtain the necessary data and inputs to complete the monthly close.
  • Support the preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting including providing flux commentary
  • Support audits by providing appropriate documentation and interacting with the external auditors
  • Record invoices to the proper accounting periods and GL accounts in accordance with company policy and GAAP
  • Support AP as needed
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and projects as required
  • Identify and drive process improvements, including system enhancements.
  • Assess prepaid balances for accuracy on a quarterly basis
  • Review vendor requests for payments against contracts and work performed
  • Monitor and communicate spend/expense recognition against open purchase orders

What You'll Bring:
  • BS/BA degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred.
  • 5-7+ years' experience progressive experience in the described contributions with 3-5 years within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Collaboration, teamwork, and passion to build.
  • Motivated to work in a fast-paced, high accountability environment.
  • Demonstrated agility to learn, and prioritize multiple responsibilities independently
  • Strong oral & written scientific communications skills.
  • Good presentation skills for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to strike a balance between independent work and team interaction, be a team player in a cross-functional team.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other productivity tools with an aptitude to learn new software and systems; ability to work with large databases
