RAND seeks an Accountant to perform accounting duties to support the financial transactions at RAND. The successful candidate will process the financial transactions related to cash management, revenue recognition (including contribution accounting/tuition). Primary responsibilities will include deposits of checks, creating pdf of check copies to distribute/email to various departments, recording of cash receipts and cash application to AR invoices, account reconciliations, conduct fluctuation analysis and cash reporting, assist in the preparation of management reporting, financial statements and supporting schedules, assist with various audits, as well as various ad hoc projects as needed.
Basic Qualifications:

Experience and understanding of accounting transactions

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to organize workflow in an efficient manner

Research questions and troubleshoot

Experience with MS Office,

Knowledge of accounting software packages

Advance Excel skills

Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Aptitude to perform detailed work with a high degree of accuracy
Preferred Qualification:

Experience in non-profit accounting
-
Familiarity with charitable giving accounting

Experience with Workday ERP
Education
-
Minimum BS/BA in Finance, Business or Accounting

Working toward CPA / MBA preferred
Experience

1-year minimum experience related to business / accounting required
Location
Santa Monica – This is a hybrid position requiring the Accountant to be in the office 2 days a week.
