Responsible for the activities associated with maintaining the integrity of the general ledger for multiple Construction Products Group ("CPG") entities including the accurate and timely processing of key accounting information and monthly preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and tax regulations. Focus on the implementation of best practice and process improvement to support the achievement of departmental, divisional, and organizational goals of CPG worldwide with a focus on CPG US financial reporting development. Interaction with all functional areas as well as RPM corporate is required.

Essential duties and responsibilities:
  • Monthly preparation, verification, and control of required journal entries
  • Monthly preparation of financial statements
  • Monthly account analysis for all balance sheet accounts including sub ledgers, AR, AP, and FA
  • General Ledger reconciliations
  • Monitor GR/IR report quarterly (SOX)
  • Backup to banking and cash management
  • SAP- new projects-testing and implementation
  • Coordinate internal and external audit requirements
  • Forecasting and planning balance sheets - undistributed divisions
  • Preparation of yearly balance sheet budgets for all non-working capital accounts
  • Assist Controller with RPM corporate-led initiatives
  • Assist Controller on overall accounting and internal control process improvements


The duties above are performed within the guidelines of GAAP / IFRS while adhering to corporate procedures, internal/Sarbanes Oxley controls, and RPM reporting requirements. This also includes the maintenance of records for the accounting department within government and RPM guidelines.

The Senior Accountant is an integral member of the finance and CPG corporate accounting team which encourages team members to collaborate and proactively share information and ideas. As a member of the corporate finance team, acts as a resource to managers regarding standards, best practices, and compliance requirements with respect to financial analysis, reporting, and internal controls.

Initiates, plans, and coordinates work activities in order to carry out a variety of special projects with an emphasis on business processes improvement and financial and tax compliance. The Senior Accountant contributes analysis and expertise to cross-functional strategic initiatives focusing on the integrity of financial information and financial reporting.

Job Factors:
  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting and/or Finance. MBA or CPA is a plus.
  • 2+ years in General Accounting or Audit. Background in the manufacturing industry or month-end close environment a plus.
  • Knowledge of SAP, (FI, CO, and PA modules) - Plus
  • Hyperion Enterprise software / HFM Oracle Reporting package - Plus
  • Knowledge of GAAP/IFRS pursuing a CPA license
  • Strong PC skill level, particularly in Excel spreadsheet applications.
  • Very strong organizational and problem-solving skills required
