Job Summary:

The Accounts Payable Supervisor is responsible for supervising the full cycle accounts payable processes. These responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day entry of invoices for payment, ensuring the timely set up of payments and ensuring continuous improvement in business processes related to Accounts Payable. This position is exposed to highly confidential matters that must be handled in a professional and discreet manner.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Manages the full cycle accounts payable processes from receiving vendor invoices, to payment, including processing of credits and intercompany transactions.
  • Assign work and lead projects on behalf of the Accounts Payable department. Lead and provide specific guidance and supervision to project teams.
  • Responsible for ensuring invoices have the appropriate authorities/approvals before processing for payment and all control requirements were met.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for all facets of accounts payable processing. Which includes understanding and staying informed of other Company work groups' procedures as it relates to Accounts Payable processing.
  • Serve as the primary contact and resource for the Accounts Payable department for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analyze and resolve complex accounts payable related problems presented by staff in other work groups.
  • Serve as a business partner for key stakeholders such as IT, Procurement, Tax, as well as other areas of Finance and build relationships at all levels of the organization to facilitate collaboration across business departments and functions to deliver desired program outcomes.
  • Proactively evaluate and make recommendations for process improvements to ensure alignment with business unit needs.
  • Participate in business improvement projects and other special projects as assigned by the Company's Management team and assist in communicating accounts payable processes and directives to all divisions and organizations.
  • Ensure that all communications are proactive and effective, and that issues and concerns are raised to direct supervisor.
  • Coach and build team, support professional development, review, and assess performance and enable employees to maximize their performance.
  • Ensure that team workload is appropriate to ensure that team's work/life balance is maintained.
  • Provide mentoring and leadership to attract, develop and retain talent.
  • Champion and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
  • Ensure that the Accounts Payable department is operating efficiently and effectively at a high level of accuracy and meeting deadlines and deliverables timely while maintaining a high level of maturity related to controls.
  • Align and execute Company initiatives as applicable to the Corporate Shared Services function.
  • Ensure alignment and collaboration with all stakeholders during the execution of systems and process improvements.
  • Proactively address issues and drill down to the root cause as areas of non-quality are identified.
  • Execute and ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.


Required Skills/Abilities:
  • 5 or more years accounts payable, or general accounting experience
  • Current Great Plains ERP system experience
  • 2 or more years in a related supervisory role
  • Knowledge of accounting principles is required, including standard accounting tasks, general ledger coding, account reconciliation and complex organizational structures
  • Demonstrates strong Excel and Word skills
  • Experience setting up various payment forms required, including checks, ACHs and wires
  • Results-oriented and able to recognize opportunities and collaborate to ensure effective change management
  • Ability to balance being detail-oriented and ensure a high level of accuracy is maintained while managing time constraints
  • Demonstrates project management skills
  • Team-focused, positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Operates at a high level of professionalism and displays strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels with internal and external customers
  • Ability to effectively multi-task, prioritize, problem-solve and desire to work in a fast-paced team environment
