The Global Commercial Services (GCS) APAC Finance team provides a broad spectrum of financial and business analysis to support product and investment decisions for the GCS business of American Express. GCS APAC serves the payment and lending needs of businesses ranging in size from small & medium-size enterprises (SMEs) to large and global corporates.

This position is part of a small team of like-minded Analytics professionals seeking to strongly progress the use of Big Data and Advanced Analytics in the Finance team for the purposes of providing deeper and higher-quality business insights and improving the overall financial performance of the company.

With a high level of exposure, the role provides an outstanding opportunity for an experienced analyst who strives to learn, collaborate, innovate and create a real impact on business decisions and outcomes.

Key responsibilities of the role include (but are not limited to) the following:

• Extracting, preparing and querying large databases and analysing complex data sets to uncover business opportunities and presenting insights to stakeholders
  
• Developing Tableau dashboards and reports
  
• Deriving actionable business or financial insights and recommendations and communicating these in a clear and concise manner to internal partners
  
• Taking ownership of projects from concept to launch and being able to execute
  
• Collaborating with the broader Finance team as well as other business partners to advance the vision and strategy of the Finance team and the broader business

Qualifications

• Experience with data science and/or advanced analytics within a complex large business
  
• Strong expertise with SQL and SAS (EG, e-miner); ability to understand and query relational databases; experience with big data environments (Hadoop / Hive / Yellowbrick)
  
• Experience with designing and building Tableau dashboards
  
• Strong attention to detail; an analytical mind and inclination for problem-solving
  
• Ability to manage projects end-to-end, from ideation to delivery, with an innovative mindset to challenge the status quo
  
• Excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal / collaboration skills
  
• Clear and confident communicator; experience synthesizing and communicating complex concepts, opportunities, recommendations and strategy to Sr. Leadership

Desirable

• Experience in Financial Services e.g. Payments, Banking
  
• Experience in Finance team; understanding of Finance team needs & processes
  
• Experience with predictive modelling / machine learning tools and techniques (Python / R / other)
  
• GitHub / Kaggle experience would be an advantage - please provide user ID
  
• Tertiary qualification in business / commerce / finance / computer science or related field
