POSITION PURPOSE

The primary responsibility of the Accounting Clerk is to support the Materials Division, Central Region and D81 Environmental Division by applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and critical thinking to the processing and preparation of the division's financials. In addition, the Accounting Clerk assists Corporate Accounting in Cash Receipts application, Customer setup and complete vendor credit applications

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Materials Division and Environmental Division Accounting - including but not limited to processing Material Sales in JWS/Viewpoint, AP Entry, Payroll, AP accruals, royalty calculation, financial reporting, customer credit review, Preliminary Lien filing and Collection Calls on past due accounts.
  • Posting Daily Cash Receipts
  • Complete vendor credit applications as required.
  • Prepare and enter monthly journal entries for General Ledger.
  • Process ownership cost and unit of production depreciation.
  • Process material sales invoices for Central Region

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications, specifically needing Intermediate/Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with Viewpoint Software or an equivalent ERP system is required.
  • Experience with JWS ticketing software is preferred.
  • Must have excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Must be detail oriented and have the ability to work under pressure and strict deadlines.

EDUCATION

AA degree in Accounting preferred.

EXPERIENCE
  • 3 + years' experience as an accounting clerk, preferably in a Construction or Manufacturing environment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Most time spent in an indoor office environment
  • Sitting at a desk for prolonged periods of time
  • Occasional lifting of files and boxes up to 20 lbs
  • Pushing/pulling of file cabinets
  • Extended visual use of a computer screen
  • Frequent typing
  • Occasional travel
