Our auction subsidiary, JJ Kane, currently has an opening for a Staff Accountant in our offices located in Birmingham, AL. The ideal candidate will be able to work to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability or other financial activities within JJ Kane.

Major Responsibilities :
  • Performs and monitors accounting functions such as accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets, lease accounting, budgeting or accounts receivable
  • Prepares and reconciles accounts such as expense reimbursement or the business unit's checkbook
  • Performs accounting processes specific to the area or business unit assigned
  • Performs tasks necessary to facilitate the monthly financial closing process
  • Identifies the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts
  • Works closely with external auditors and tax compliance professionals in the preparation of the annual audit report and tax returns
  • Compiles, codes, categorizes, calculates, tabulates or verifies information or data
  • Enters, transcribes, records, stores or maintains information in written or electronic/magnetic form
  • Develops constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintains them over time
  • Develops specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize and accomplish assigned work responsibilities
  • Prepares financial reports for and provides information to management, supervisors, co-workers and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail or in person
  • Analyzes information and evaluates results to choose and/or recommend the best solution to solve problems
  • Coordinates all inter-company transactions
  • May prepare property tax returns for various municipalities and coordinates sales and property tax audit process
  • Translates or explains information and how it can be used to others
  • Performs other analysis as required
  • Assists/supports other departments as necessary
  • All other duties as assigned

Should the selected candidate meet the qualifications of a more experienced level in the career path, the job level may be adjusted.

Education, Experience and Skills Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or closely related field required
  • CPA preferred
  • Three plus years experience in a general accounting position preferred
  • Current valid U. S. Driver's License
  • PC skills using Microsoft Office including Excel, Word;
  • Knowledge working in Oracle database preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to work with team members and work with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of Used Vehicle dealer and business licenses throughout the country a plus.
