Job Details

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct and lead accounting teams in the oversight, development and implementation of accounting policies and controls consistent with SEC, US GAAP, and other regulatory compliance requirements. Direct reports include: VP Financial Reporting, VP Senior Regulatory & Insurance Accounting, AVP Accounts Payable, AVP Production Payout.
  • Develop processes and people while implementing technology solutions that are supportive of creating an accounting organization for future growth.
  • Lead teams that manage monthly and quarterly financial reporting and coordinate the timely and accurate completion of the Company's SEC filings, including all focus reporting, as well as, any other required filings in various transactions. Manage transaction accounting, month-end/general ledger closing process and other financial controls.
  • Review and continuously improve existing accounting systems and processes. Lead ongoing transformation efforts to streamline accounting systems and drive related efficiencies throughout the company.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting principles, policies, and standards while simultaneously ensuring quality and reliability in a cost-effective manner.
  • Monthly review of all financials used for financial reporting to management. Review and approve various account analysis performed by other staff members.
  • Coordinate annual external financial audit, collect required data, respond to questions and interface directly with the external auditors.
  • Facilitate interface of regulatory examinations with the financial and regulatory areas.
  • Lead team and assist in calculation and accrual of year-end bonuses, which requires handling of extremely sensitive compensation data. Provide required bonus related financials to management.
  • Reconcile monthly payroll bank account.
  • Assist in management of Record Management On-line (RMOL) records retrieval software), including maintenance and verification of data and all related system maintenance for that module.
  • Responsible for testing of accounting software upgrades, either directly or through managed supervisors. Systems include: interface control from brokerage system Pershing, payout system Xtiva, insurance system Vertafore, payroll and the lease accounting software.
  • Participate with management in financial reviews with department heads, answer questions related to monthly financial statements and provide consultation regarding various what-if scenarios and financial or regulatory impact.
  • Financial forecasting and special projects as requested by executive management.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct supervision of four managers who oversee 25 additional employees.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Accounting, Finance or Business
  • 10+ years of relevant accounting and financial experience, with additional global experience preferred
  • 5+ years of management and supervisory experience
  • Expertise with Workday Financials, Security, Reporting, and Integrations
  • Demonstrated experience with C-Suite executives
  • Strategic experience in establishing finance best practices
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Demonstrated experience as a strategic financial leader with a track record of strategic vision and the ability to serve as a proactive advisor to finance, business groups, and senior leadership.
  • Executional focus, with a proven history of driving organizational change and leading the completion of complex projects across an organization. Includes an ability to effectively motivate and lead a large team of accounting and finance professionals in an environment of dynamic change.
  • Capability to provide strategic and tactical thought leadership around complex accounting issues, including the ability to effectively frame complex concepts/situations to make them broadly understandable and actionable.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a demonstrated history of implementing business process changes and driving innovation.
  • Able to balance strategic decision making with the ability to "do the work" and dig into the details.
  • Ability to solve complex and multi-variable problems in a straightforward and actionable manner.
  • Ability to lead up, down, and across the organization in order to drive results.
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, 10-key by touch.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to represent the company within the industry.
  • Fosters increased collaboration, teamwork, and partnership while also capable of working independently as needed. Also fosters strong relationships with business partners and has the ability to influence upward and across a large organization.
