Scion specialises in research, science and technology development for the forestry industry, wood products and wood-derived materials. We lead new technology development for renewables, bioproducts and energy and the establishment of a broader based bio-economy.

You will be part of a team that is an integral part in delivering and developing techno-economic modelling of wood processing, bioenergy and forestry systems which play a key part Scion's strategy

Reporting to the Process Development Team Lead within our Materials, Engineering & Manufacturing group, you will:
  • Conducts and develops techno-economic modelling of wood processing and bioenergy systems
  • Conduct and develop forestry related modelling (using crop models and developing supply chain analysis.
  • Provide market analysis (wood products and energy)
  • Develop engineering/process models (AspenPlus)
  • Work in portfolios across our three Impact Areas

What you'll need to succeed:
  • Bachelor of Science or Engineering
  • At least 3 years practical experience in science or engineering
  • Basic forestry knowledge, including forestry systems, harvesting and transport
  • Enthusiastic and innovative approach to science tasks; self-starter with ability to work independently on tasks or as part of a team.
  • An ability to work well with end-users and stakeholders in the planning and delivery of assigned tasks.

Desirable skills:
  • Processing techno-economics
  • Data management and analysis
  • Report writing
  • General IT skills across MS Office suite
