Hutcheon Mearns are engaged with a longstanding client to source an experienced Tax Analyst for this staff position. Our client is an upstream oil and gas operator with international assets and an exciting growth strategy, the successful individual will join their high performing tax team based in Aberdeen.

To be considered, you will be a qualified tax professional (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, AAT or ATT) with relevant upstream industry experience, with an understanding of complex accounting. Additionally, you will have a strong analytical skills and communication skills, strive for precision, and operate with exceptional attention to detail. Experience with upstream Corporation Tax and PRT is desirable. SAP experience is advantageous, and strong Excel skills are essential.

In this role, the successful applicant will support the department and maintain responsibility for tax accounting, tax compliance and tax advisory as required, duties will cover:

• Preparation of tax numbers to be recorded in business financial books and forecasts
• Preparation of selected Corporation Tax returns and computations including companies subject to the industry specific UK upstream Ring Fence tax regime
• Preparation of selected Petroleum Revenue Tax (PRT) returns
• Providing financial and tax analysis to the business as required
• Researching legislative changes and selected tax technical matters as required
