What's the role?

This is a hands-on role with significant autonomy and involvement across the wider business and the finance function. We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running and with a willingness to identify areas for improvement. There is scope for the role to expand in the future and significant business growth will directly impact this fantastic role.

You will report directly into the Finance Director and your key responsibilities will include:


  • Control and complete the preparation of monthly management accounts from TB to include P&L, Balance Sheets, Cashflow and supporting MI
  • Process all accounting entries in Sage
  • Bank reconciliations in multi currencies including cashflow management
  • Complete and control all month end journals to include cost accruals and prepayments, deferred and accrued income
  • Maintenance of P+L and Balance Sheet supporting reconciliations, KPIs and accounting schedules
  • Management of accounts payable and payment runs
  • Processing of employee expense submissions
  • Control of the monthly payroll process and statutory HMRC returns and submissions using an external bureau
  • Completion of Quarterly VAT returns and all HMRC/ONS compliance requests
  • Supporting the in-house procurement and on-line purchasing system
  • Ongoing system and process improvements across the finance and business areas
  • Support the FD with financial analysis and ad hoc projects


Requirements:

  • At least 7 year's experience within a finance function
  • Passed finalist or qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA)
  • Experienced in working in a dynamic SME environment
  • Highly numerate and detail orientated
  • Fantastic problems solving skills and with a pro-active "can-do" attitude
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a confident communicator
  • Ability to self-manage and work to deadlines efficiently
  • Deep experience with the Sage 50 accounting package is essential
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft office and in particular Excel
