Aspire Jobs are working in partnership with our family owned client who are growing and who have been established for over 25 years. Now looking for an experienced Financial Controller/Finance Manager who can manage the finance department and provide accurate and timely financial records to the board, preparing company financial reports, assist in the compliance audits and monitor internal controls. You will also be responsible for advising the board on financial strategy and cash flow management.

As Financial Controller you will have a minimum of 5 years + experience in an accounting or financial management role with the ability to manage deadlines and prioritise effectively. You will also be able to demonstrate a track record of line management of a small finance team

The successful Financial Controller will have :

* Be or part qualified/qualified

* Track record in successfully managing a finance department for an SM

* Strong leadership qualities

* Ability to challenge in a professional and constructive manner

* Proven experience in managing the audit process

* Be proficient in MS Office and accounting software experience

* Have experience of presenting accounting/financial findings at board level

Key responsibilities

* Prepare monthly financial reporting pack

* Analyse financial date and provide/discuss variances in board reports

* Monitor cashflow and forecast future trends

* Daily cashflow monitoring

* Financial accounting - prepayments, accruals, journals, stock movement etc

* Monthly payroll process, PAYE returns and HMRC Submissions

* Quarterly VAT returns

* Managing pension providers and members

* Managing company insurances

* Maintain fixed asset registers, recognising additions, disposals and calculating depreciation

* Line Manager to Credit Controller and Purchase Ledger Clerk

* Staff and Directors expenses and sales commission payments

* Working with external accountants regarding R&D tax relief claim

* Ensure the company meets its statutory and compliance obligations
