Financial Management Team Leader

We are excited to be seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join us as a finance (Management Accounting) team leader to oversee and provide the QA/sign off function across a portfolio of monthly client management accounting packs. The role will join our growing shared service finance team (circa 50 current employees) based at our head office in Oxford.

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Head of Finance, providing leadership and management to a team of experienced Management Accountants of 35 properties. Ensuring that monthly and/or quarterly sets of management accounts per site are submitted to the Client in accordance with quality standards, strict reporting deadlines and client requirements.

Key Purpose of the role

This role is a key position to provide a QA and sign off function (oversight, leadership and formal validation/sign off) for a portfolio of client monthly management accounting packs for multiple property clients.

The role will suit an experienced (Qualified/QBE) Management Accountant who is able to engage, support, advise and influence a group of Senior and experienced (studying) Management Accountants. It will ensure a timely and high quality production of trusted and time critical information for a portfolio of clients. (Providing each client with a final quality check for each set of monthly Management Accounts pack, budgets and/or other financial information.)

We are looking for applicants that have the experience to recognise anomalies, errors or where further information/investigation is required.

Working as part of a major and growing property shared service centre this role will be integral in the delivery of quality and trusted financial information to external clients, individuals and/or investment groups that own or manage the specific properties.

Key Tasks

Managing a team of Client Management Accountants to ensure the production of monthly financial management information for a portfolio of clients is completed on time to the required standard.

Ensure the team liaises with Clients and Site Staff regarding accounting queries and provide leadership on complex cases.

Maintain regular contact with key clients and site staff via email, telephone and the occasional face to face meeting.

Co-ordinate the production of annual site budgets by the team, in conjunction with the Site Staff and Head of Operations and re-forecasting where necessary.

Ensure the team submits timely remittance of funds to clients and cash flow reporting.

Provide development and training for new and more junior members of the team as required.

Working with the other team leaders in the function to drive process improvement

Knowledge and Skills

Qualified, Senior part qualified or QBE (CIMA/ACCA/ACA or equivalent)

Experience of preparing, reviewing and signing off Management Accounting packs

Experience of supporting management accountants/teams team to deliver timely management accounting packs across a portfolio of clients each and every month.

Support/guide, delegate and advise team members understand or recognise anomalies or errors and deliver to time critical deadlines

Client focused

Microsoft Excel skills to include V Look-ups, If Statements and Pivot Tables

Excellent verbal and written Communication Skills

Excellent organisational skills

Drive efficiency and improvement of the quality process to simplify and streamline the monthly processes.

Ensure timely remittance of funds to clients and that service charge requests are submitted to meet operational expenditure requirements.

Monitor the production of annual site budgets and ensuring that they are consistent and comparable and produced within the agreed timescales
