A 4 months+ opportunity for a Group Accountant has arsien with the local authorities in Bradford.
The main purpose of the role is:
Manage and supervise the day to day operations of the Cash and Banking team (3 posts inclusive), ensuring that income and expenditure is cleared to cost centres across the Council in a timely manner.
Work closely with Revenue and Benefits colleagues to ensure that income is receipted and accounted for appropriately including VAT.
Ensure that appropriate reconciliations are undertaken in a timely manner.
Help identify and implement systems development & control improvements
Contribute to preparing Year End Accounts including preparing relevant working papers and liaising with external auditors.
Manage the banking contract.
Ensure bank accounts, bank mandates, on line banking access is appropriate and regularly updated.Skills and Experience:
At least five year's experience, 2 year post qualification, in a public sector business or financial environment.
Experience of successfully carrying out a year end close down process.
Experience of supporting budget holders in service planning and budget preparation.
Experience of working with and advising Chief Officers, Strategic Directors, Divisional Directors, Members, Trade Union representatives and Members of the public is essential.Hours of work are 9am till 5pm, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
