    POSITION SUMMARY

    Assistant Controller will take hands-on, active management responsibility for the day-to-day management of the accounting functions for the 4 reporting entities for which we are responsible.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Hands-on management of the day-to-day functions of the Accounting Department ( team of 3 people).

    Responsible for the timely completion of all month-end, quarter-end and year-end closes.

    Responsible for timely and accurate Sales tax calculation and reporting

    Responsible for accurate inventory control, valuation and reporting..

    Manage annual physical inventory

    Maintain the fixed asset and depreciation records

    Respond to Corporate and government information requests

    Prepare monthly financial reporting and financial analysis ( profit margins, etc...)

    Ensuring that the Accounts Receivable are collected as per invoice terms

    Ensure that the internal control systems of all of our companies are complete and adequate to minimize the risks of errors or irregularities

    Personal Attributes and Ability

    The candidate must have the ability to solve problems and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with: management, co-workers and also with personnel at our foreign subsidiaries. Must be detail oriented, with a personal dedication to quality results. Must have demonstrable advanced user level excel skills and functional knowledge of MRP systems. Position requires ability to: meet strict closing deadlines, maintain confidentiality, utilize strong organizational skills, prioritize work effectively and pay close attention to detail.

    Education and Experience (Preferred, not required)

    Bachelors Degree with Accounting major

    Min 2 years experience in a Staff Accounting role

    Min. 1 year experience with a capital equipment manufacturer in an experienced accountant role or higher.

    Demonstrable experience with "Over-Time" revenue recognition and cost accounting methods.

    Demonstrable advanced user level Excel and MS Office software skills

    Management experience a plus
