ABOUT THE COMPANY AND OPPORTUNITY:
Our client, based in Stamford, is looking for a Senior Accountant ASAP! They are big believers that their employees are the cornerstone of their success and strive every day to offer the best opportunities in the industry. They are looking for a detail-oriented individual with a minimum of 3 years of general accounting experience who will take full ownership of the Senior Accountant position.
Responsible for the financial reporting of the dealership group, analysis to drive operational decisions, continuously improve reporting and facilitate on-boarding of dealership acquisitions.
Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day accounting operations to ensure that all transactions are recorded in compliance with dealership accounting processes and policies
Lead as Subject Matter Expert (SME) of DMS (Dealer Management System) implementation
Drive variance analysis of financial statements (e.g. budget to actual, monthly fluctuations vs. expectations)
Facilitate timely submission of consolidated financial statements and schedules to dealership departments
Communication to various stakeholders on trends and cash needs of the business
Assist department managers in reading and interpreting financial reports and in creating action plans needed to improve financial performance
Problem-solve issues that arise during the financial reporting process and drive efficiency
Education:
Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in accounting
5+ years of experience in auto and/or truck dealership accounting
Dealership accounting experience to include lease and rental, finance, and insurance
Experience with a dealership management system is required; experience with Procede Excede is highly valued as is DMS/ERP implementation experience
Skills:
Credible, ethical, confidential
Conscientious about the timeliness of assignments and quality of work product
Able to handle multiple tasks and maintain control and order
Strong US GAAP and financial reporting technical skills
Exceptional computer skills in the operation and functioning of all programs typically used in a dealership setting (e.g. Microsoft Excel, DMS); additional benefit with SQL knowledge
