National NGO based in Cape Town CBD is looking for a Financial Officer/Accountant to join their small dynamic team.
Purpose of the Job
The Finance Officer is responsible for maintaining financial, accounting, and administrative duties to ensure financial stability. The FO is to assist the Area Manager to ensure that financial policies and procedures are followed for the sustainability of the organisation.
Summary of essential job functions (KPA)

Key focus areas:
Ensure that all invoices are correctly completed and authorised.
Manage and monitor petty cash reimbursement to all offices
Assist with annual audit
Provide the Area Managers and provincial staff with financial reports and analysis that enables decision-making at provincial level
Prepare financial reports for Funders.
Ensure financial files and records are maintained and the financial policy is adhered to. Reporting any discrepancies to National Financial Officer.
Ensure that procurement and authorisation policies are adhered to
Ensure the asset register is immediately updated when a change occurs
With assistance of admin staff, Area Manager, and supervisors in the offices to conduct regular audits of all assets
Ensure that vehicles are road worthy, and issues addressed
Ensure termination or renewal of lease agreements is applied within the stipulated time frame
Ensure the safety and confidentiality of all information
Ensure a complete and electronic filing system of financial documentation
Provide input on the preparation of provincial budgets
Monitor the budget on the pastel
Assemble documents (orders, delivery notes where applicable, invoices, statements) and reconcile creditor accounts (general ledger to statement). Process invoices on Pastel and prepare accounts for payments completing payment requisition.
Minimum Requirements Qualification and Experience
+ 5 years of experience in finance/accounting
NGO Experience would be highly advantageous
Thorough understanding of finance and problem-solving skills are essential.
Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.
Ability to participate in group meetings.
