Glendale’s Budget and Finance Department provides financial management services, budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, utility billing and collection services, sales tax, business licensing services, purchasing services, and grants management to city departments, elected officials, and residents. With 73.5 employees and an annual department budget of $41.2 million, the Budget and Finance Department plays a key role in ensuring the city has the fiscal resources it needs to provide exceptional service to its residents, businesses, and visitors.

Glendale seeks a positive leader with knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration, municipal finance and budgeting to serve as its Budget and Finance Director. Reporting to the Assistant City Manager, the Budget and Finance Director plans, organizes, directs, and evaluates the activities and staff of the Budget and Finance department and assists division heads in planning, assigning, coordinating, and implementing programs. Analyzing and monitoring the City’s financial condition and making recommendations for improvement to the Assistant City Manager, City Manager, and City Council.

A bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field, and five years of increasingly responsible management/administrative experience in governmental finance is required. A combination of relevant education and/or experience will be considered. A master’s degree is preferred. Candidates must have or be able to obtain an Arizona Certified Public Accountant license within 12 months of employment.

The salary range for this position is $124,950-$187,425, dependent on qualifications and experience.
