The Director of Accounting and SEC Reporting owns the preparation and filing of documents required by government and regulatory agencies (US SEC etc) for external financial reporting. Manages data gathering, consolidation and analysis of financial data relative to the preparation of required regulatory filings, including but not limited to 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, proxy statements and the annual report. Leads and manages the monthly/quarterly/YE close and the preparation of financial statements (including the statement of cash flows), earnings release tables, equity accounting, equity footnotes and other equity related disclosures. Ensures data integrity (review and tie-out) and proper accounting and supports independent auditors through the review and audit of regulatory filings. Gathers reference material concerning new and existing technical accounting literature, and documents accounting position conclusions to ensure compliance. The Director of Accounting and SEC Reporting assists with managing the internal SOX 404 compliance program to maintain internal control process documentation and in performing internal control testing, as well as assisting with integrated audit procedures performed by the Company’s independent auditors.

The Director of Accounting and SEC Reporting delegates efficiently, coordinates well with others and proactively keeps up with the latest regulatory developments that impact the Company’s SEC filings and financial reporting requirements. The Director of Accounting and SEC Reporting will have a strong background in technical accounting, SEC reporting and SOX 404 along with excellent leadership and communication skills. Experience with Workiva and attention to detail is paramount.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the Company's Securities Exchange Act filings including Forms 10-K, 10-Q's, 8-K’s, etc.
  • Perform technical accounting research, draft memos and conclusions, and educate, and draft required disclosures
  • Prepare supporting documentation related to SEC filings and engage with auditors an efficient audit or review of the filings
  • Prepare and organize the quarterly SEC reporting calendar, which involves coordination with the external auditors, executives and members of the finance and legal departments
  • Perform XBRL tagging procedures for the Company’s Securities Exchange Act filings
  • Manage internal controls related to the SEC reporting process in support of managements and the external auditors’ assessment of internal controls over financial reporting
  • Complete disclosure checklists and ensure filing documents are properly formatted and is accurate
  • Prepare and/or assist with quarterly and annual internal Board of Directors and Audit Committee packages
  • Assist in reviewing financial press releases and materials related to the earnings release conference call to ensure accuracy of information and consistency with other financial filings.
  • Assist in evaluating the impact of new accounting pronouncements and financial reporting developments.
  • Assists external auditors in the planning and execution of annual audits and quarterly reviews, including the resolution of accounting and auditing issues.
  • Current and in-depth knowledge of accounting principles including SEC Reporting.
  • Staff development, coaching and training.
  • Establishes and updates financial reporting deadlines and managing the monthly close and financial consolidation process.
  • Ensure the accuracy of equity accounting and reporting
  • Assist in the creation of process and procedures to ensure timeliness of reporting including monthly/quarterly/YE close
  • Interact with internal and external peers for best practice developments and process

Experience/Requirements:

  • Big 4 Experience required
  • Workiva experience required
  • NetSuite experience
  • XBRL implementation and maintenance experience
  • 8-10 years of collective practical accounting experience, including relevant experience with a publicly traded company in a similar SEC reporting role
  • Results oriented, strong organizational skills and time management skills with ability to multi-task
  • Extreme attention to detail
  • Resourceful, action-orientated with the ability to meet deadlines and turnaround requests
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Must have the attitude to be able to work hard and “roll-up the sleeves”
  • Ability to conduct GAAP and IFRS research and maintain proper documentation

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree: major in accounting or business preferred
  • CPA required
