Director of Enterprise Risk Management

Brief Summary of Job Duties


Duties and Responsibilities:


Formalize a process by which the University will maintain a systematic organization-wide approach for conducting assessments to define and analyze possible risks


Establish an Enterprise Risk Management Committee


Evaluate the gravity of each risk by considering its consequences


Oversee the committee of University officials that will assist in identifying potential threats and


Assist with creating plans to prevent and mitigate problems.


Monitor internal and external audit reports and findings and consider the inclusion of risk management initiatives to address and mitigate repeat findings


Implement appropriate processes and procedures to ensure all aspects of University-wide compliance


Educate all campus constituencies regarding the scope of risks and the responsibility of promptly reporting such risk


Identify which office or position is responsible for the risk


Assess the likelihood of occurrence and potential impact to the University's strategic interests and goals


Work closely with the Office of Internal Audits to determine specific performance compliance areas


Coordinate the development and maintenance of risk management policies, procedures, standards and forms for the University


Assure the development of educational materials as well as evaluating employees' risk awareness and training programs for employees and students as appropriate


Provide periodic reports regarding ERM milestones and activities to the President


Other duties as required to perform the function of the position


Requested Minimum Qualifications


The successful candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree in a relative field from an accredited college or university. Proven experience as a Risk Manager is required, preferably in a higher education setting.


Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities


Knowledge of risk assessment and control


Experience with auditing and reporting procedures


Familiarity with higher education standards and regulations


Excellent research and computer skills


Excellent communication and presentation skills


Professional Risk Manager certification is preferred


Other Preferences for Consideration


Candidates with a Professional Risk Manager Certification may be given preference.
