General Accountant

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Our client is a Non-Profit who has been a client of ours for several years. This client offers work/life balance, free onsite parking, and a brand new office space! This role will join a team of about 5 in the finance group, and work closely with the company's Controller. This is a full-time opportunity with a core schedule of 8:30-4:30PM. This client utilizes Great Plains but is in the process of implementing Financial Edge.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE GENERAL ACCOUNTANT:

• Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts.
• Handle month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing activities.
• Analyze financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital.
• Prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize current and projected company financial position.
• Support Controller with financial close process monthly, quarterly and yearly.
• Support Accounts Payable, Payroll and Accounts Receivable as needed.
• Support grant accounting process as needed.
• Audit contracts, orders, and vouchers, and prepare reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to monthly close process.
• Establish, modify, document, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures.

EXPERIENCE PREFERRED FOR THE GENERAL ACCOUNTANT ROLE:

• BS in Finance or Accounting a plus
• 3 years of experience in Accounting
• Prior hands-on GL experience
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, with advanced working knowledge of Excel
• Ability to work efficiently independently as well as part of a team
• Proficiency with Great Plains and/or Financial Edge a huge plus!
