Job Details
One of the first master-planned communities in Texas with neighborhoods, parks, and schools scattered throughout town for a truly family-centered atmosphere, the Town of Trophy Club offers its residents natural beauty, safety, and outstanding regional amenities. The Town rests in the heart of North Texas, sitting along State Highway 114 between Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and the Alliance Airport/Industrial Complex, and is home to nearly 12,700 residents within 4.2 square miles stretched across Tarrant and Denton counties.
Under the direction of the Town Manager and working with a team of three direct reports, the Finance Director is responsible for safeguarding the Town’s assets through planning and directing its finances. Candidates for this position should have a thorough knowledge of public finance administration principles and methods, modern governmental accounting and auditing theory and practices, and federal, state, and local financial laws. They should also be detail-oriented while understanding the big picture, able to achieve both short- and long-term goals through sustainable budget strategies.
Town leaders are looking for an individual with excellent judgment in making critical decisions who values teamwork in their duties and will serve the public and their fellow employees with honesty, ethics, and integrity. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with skills in conducting research, preparing reports, and explaining complicated subjects so residents and decision-makers at all levels of the organization can understand.
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related field with a master’s degree preferred. Candidates should also have five to seven years of experience in municipal finance administration, and status as a Certified Public Accountant is preferred. Experience working with a Public Improvement District, Municipal Utility District, and Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone is also a plus. If the successful candidate is not already a Certified Government Finance Officer, they will be asked to earn their certification within two years of their hire.
The Finance Director position for the Town of Trophy Club has a salary range of $101,872 to $144,614 with a starting salary depending upon qualifications and experience.
