To meet the needs of strategic growth, we're pleased to welcome applications for the recently created role of Financial Controller. Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer (Australia), you'll be responsible for the review and analysis of contract data, compilation of budgets and forecasts and analysis of monthly results required for effective control and management of company finances. You will assist in maintaining the integrity of the company financial reporting and records and will work closely and in cooperation with business managers and other members of the finance team.

In more specific terms, this key role will see you responsible for:
  • Compilation and analysis of performance and budget data
  • Development and accuracy of internal budgets
  • Timely submission and accuracy of internal financial reports and forecasts and contract reporting, including periodic reports, half year and annual reports, budgets and forecasts
  • Provision of support and advice to other members of the Finance team and the business through the development of meaningful and accurate reports
  • Provision of input to local financial policy and practice in line with local accounting standards
  • Contribution to the review of investment decisions
  • Collaboration with the global team to ensure the Australian business is aligned with regards to the development of financial reporting systems
  • Review and reporting on the utilisation of resources

In terms of location, whilst the preference is that role be based in Canberra, applicants from Melbourne are also encouraged to apply.

As our ideal applicant, you'll present with:
  • Qualifications as a Financial/Accounting professional and substantial post-qualification experience including business experience that extends beyond working in a 'finance function'
  • Experience gained in financial analysis and reporting in a business that delivers complex projects
  • Confidence in the application and use of financial systems and tools
  • Experience in dealing with external and internal stakeholders, coupled with strong commercial acumen and exceptional communication and influencing skills

Some experience and appreciation of the responsibilities in adjacent disciplines including commercial management, risk management, business development and project management will be advantageous. Whilst defence industry experience is preferred, experience gained in other project-based industries is also relevant.

Due to the nature of our work, applicants need to be eligible for Australian Defence security clearance.

Whilst applications must be made online, confidential enquiries are welcome and a copy of the position description is available. Please contact Cathy Riach, Head of Talent Acquisition & Planning (email: clriach@qinetiq.com.au)
