Our Finance Division is looking for a motivated, highly organised, energetic and independent thinker to join their team as the Financial Accountant.
Reporting to the Financial Controller of Evoenergy, you will be primarily responsible for assisting with the completion of financial accounting duties within Evoenergy in accordance with the Australian Accounting Standards (AAS) and prescribed accounting policies.

Your day in the role:

Assist to ensure the integrity of financial reporting is maintained for the electricity and gas distribution services within Evoenergy, in accordance with AAS and the policies of AAD.
Completion of month end closing procedures, ensuring that the close process is completed in accordance with both the ActewAGL journal and materiality policies.
Assist in the completion of the balance sheet reconciliations.
Assist the Financial Controller in ensuring that key controls over revenue and cost recognition, including related balance sheet accounts are maintained at all times.
Assist the Financial Controller with relevant month end results analysis against budget, including identification of anomalies for further investigation with the business.
Assist in ensuring the integrity of capital in progress (CIP) balances.
Assist in ensuring accurate accounting for unread consumption accruals.
Support the Financial Controller to ensure that financial management systems, billing systems and works management systems support the integrity of financial information.
Assist the Financial Controller and the Evoenergy Commercial team in the development of forecasts and budgets, including identification of financial trends that improve the effectiveness of the budgeting process.
Provide assistance in the provision of information for the year end external audit process, including the preparation of variance analysis.

You will need to be successful:

Tertiary qualifications in accounting a (OR) related discipline and a CA/CPA membership or equivalent or working towards.
Established work experience in the area of Financial Accounting is required.
Strong technical accounting skills with a strong understanding of AAS and experience in applying accounting concepts in relation to accounting estimates and judgements.
Demonstrated ability to streamline existing accounting processes, whilst ensuring a strong financial control environment is continued at all times.
Strong Excel skills, including experience with TM1 and the Oracle Financial Suite (or similar financial and management information system is highly desirable).
Well-developed quantitative, financial and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial and non-financial information.
