About the role

  • Work with key stakeholders to refresh our strategy, manage and grow ANZ's payment products, whilst maintaining a horizon perspective and driving a range of exciting forward-thinking payments initiatives that will transform our offerings
  • Focus on quality customer insights and continuous improvement in the payments portfolio, supporting positive change, supply-side enhancements, technical solutions, effective risk management and efficient staff/operational processes
  • Bring deep experience and insight, to help to lead a modernisation journey of investment, capability development, process excellence and new innovative ways for our customers to “move money”
  • Contribute to our small tribe of experienced, problem-solving, customer-focussed and highly-engaged Payments professionals, whilst also working closely with and alongside the wider ANZ Products team and other stakeholders

What will your day look like



In this role, you would have the opportunity to:

  • Understand customer needs and competitors offering to position ANZ Payments in the market; anticipating and responding to evolving business needs to ensure customer expectations are met
  • Champion the strategic value, simplification and innovation agendas for Payments, whilst also maintaining awareness of and closely supporting regulatory and industry-led change in the NZ market
  • Identify and develop key proposition improvements (minor and major) and product variations for Payments, aligned with Current Accounts/Digital agenda
  • Provide high integrity, subject matter expertise and business leadership for payments in the organisation and for payments related projects, including those led by other areas of ANZ
  • Investigate and articulate risks, incidents (internal and external) and events impacting payments performance and customer outcomes, including an understanding of fraud detection and prevention
  • Identify and resolve systematic process and customer issues as well as champion customer complaint resolution within the payments team - be a champion of high standards and excellence
  • Ensure data collection and reporting is evolved to support portfolio performance and inform project decisions/benefits, including annual product reviews and any governance packs or outputs
  • Work with strategy and larger project teams to represent payments from a business perspective, ensuring that customer, technology and market trends are well understood
  • Manage an effective internal stakeholder network, and leverage this network for your teams benefit, plus contribute to an open, high-performing team culture
