Highly organised, extremely accurate and experienced Finance Assistant wanted to work in the small Finance team of our fast-paced, innovative, alcohol gifting company based on Melbourn Science Park - with the option to work from home a couple of days a week - working on a wide variety of purchase and sales ledger tasks, with the opportunity to progress to an Assistant Finance Manager position with exposure to preparing monthly management accounts.

Skills, experience and qualifications required

Skills required:

  • Superb organisational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good Microsoft Office skills, especially in Excel
  • Good numeracy skills
  • A proactive attitude
  • Enjoy working in a busy environment
  • The ability to plan, organise and manage priorities
  • The ability to work effectively with minimal supervision

Experience and qualifications required:

  • Purchase or Sales Ledger experience
  • At least a grade C in Maths and English at GCSE/O level or equivalent
  • A full driving licence and use of a car

Additional experience and qualifications preferred (but not essential):

  • Sage experience
  • An accounting or bookkeeping qualification such as AAT
  • Experience of working in a small or medium sized company
  • Experience of working in manufacturing, production or supply chain

You will also be polite, friendly, well-presented and professional, will remain calm under pressure, have a strong and committed work ethic, have a high degree of honesty and discretion, and be a team player with a flexible "can do" attitude.

Company, salary & benefits

We are a small, friendly, fast-paced and innovative alcohol gifts company, based on Melbourn Science Park, which is between Cambridge and Royston, and has a cafeteria and free onsite parking.

This is an office-based position, with standard working hours being Monday to Friday, either 8:30am to 5pm or 9am to 5.30pm, with an hour for lunch - and the option to work a hybrid role (eg work from home a couple of days a week) if desired.

Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience, and we also operate a company pension scheme. An annual discretionary bonus may also be paid. Holiday entitlement starts at 28 days per annum including bank holidays, gradually rising to 33 days per annum including bank holidays after a period of service.
