About the Division
Assets and Engineering is a division of Network Design and Integration which enables a safe, resilient and fit-for-purpose Victorian transport system through whole of lifecycle decisions based on systematic and disciplined technical excellence.
About the opportunity
Reporting to the Account Manager, the Project Accountant is responsible for monitoring and reporting on the financial performance and progress of projects including investigating variances and performance to budget. Managing all project financial information, day to day activities include ensuring costs and revenues are accurately reported for all projects at month end, assisting the Account Manager - Engineering with project set-up including financial analysis to determine project costs for bids, contracts and SLAs, accounting and system related queries and developing and engaging in project based analytic initiatives.
Position Outcomes

* Business and Commercial Acumen - Demonstrated understanding of operational costs and application to financial analysis and models to inform project costs. Applied competence in the management, tracking, monitoring and reporting on Free for Service Project budgets and develop and deliver processes and systems to monitor. Exercised professional expertise in the development of the branches business area financial planning process.

Key Selection Criteria

* Business and Commercial Acumen (Applied) - Understands associated costs of operations and seek efficient ways of operating. Where external vendors are involved, ensure good understanding on engagement terms and hold parties involved accountable in delivering against agreement.

Qualifications (Mandatory)
Mandatory

* Tertiary qualification in accounting or finance.

Desirable

* Industry experience and knowledge of engineering operations will be viewed positively.
