Job Details

The Financial Controller is tasked with supporting the CFO by leading all transactional and financial accounting activity across the Trust, with the primary purpose of supporting the achievement of outstanding educational outcomes for the Trust's students. This will be done in conjunction with Head Teachers, Finance Managers, and Academy Service Managers.

My client is a medium size trust based in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire

Description

  • Reporting directly to the CFO, you will be a key member of the senior management team
  • Responsible for internal management and external statutory reporting and will manage all accounting operations including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger and Tax accounting.
  • Budget setting and monitoring
  • Prepare monthly Capital Fund workings & ensure the Capital Fund is accounted for
  • Ensure the positive cash flow position of the Trust is monitored and maintained on a daily basis, through effective cash management activities, including preparing monthly cashflow forecasts
  • Implementation and set up of finance systems for new academies joining the Trust and agreement of opening balances to transfer.
  • Ensure that the Trust is in compliance with financial regulations and governance requirements
  • Lead the effective design and implementation of Trust-wide financial processes and controls.

  • Responsible for internal and external audit process

Profile

  • Qualified chartered accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIPFA, CIMA)
  • Up to date knowledge of financial standards and legislation
  • Commercially astute and have exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions based on accurate and appropriate analysis.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective and efficient Finance systems and procedures
  • Experience of working with different financial software packages and strong use of Microsoft Excel
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels whilst working across a range of sites
  • Experience of managing and leading teams and establishing effective performance measures and a performance culture that achieves team objectives
