Macildowie is delighted to be working in partnership with Melton Borough Council to appoint an experienced Financial Accountant to join their ambitious and forward-thinking organisation.

Melton Borough Council provides support and services to around 50,000 people in the local area, covering a wide range of services including waste, planning, transport and housing. By joining this organisation, you will be positively contributing to enriching the lives of people who live in the rural north-east borough of Leicestershire.

This fantastic opportunity will see you provide an accountancy service to budget holders within the Corporate Services.

Your key duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Offer financial advice and training to budget holders and managers
  • Preparation of management and financial accounts
  • Assist in the final accounts process in accordance with CIPFA's Accounting Code of Practice
  • To work with budget holders in order to set and manage a portfolio of budgets, including the monitoring of income and expenditure
  • Develop reports on the council's financial system, including spreadsheets.
  • To develop and improve manual and computerised procedures
  • Assist in the development of the Council's approach to service delivery and implementation of a customer-orientated philosophy.

They will also consider part and fully qualified candidates as well as those who are qualified by experience as long as you possess a strong background within the financial and management accounts function.

You will be a confident and enthusiastic candidate keen to join a progressive authority offering a challenging and varied role. You will also have excellent inter-personal communication skills and excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
